Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa leads two-day test at Valencia – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa took charge of the two-day test held at Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia.
Pedrosa said, “We had another good day of testing today. Basically we've been working on the engine mapping, to better manage the power of the bike, and with the rear shock. The changes we've done on the bike from Brno to here have been positive and we finish
the year with a good feeling.”
The Spanish rider set a fast pace on his home circuit. He was trailed by teammate Casey Stoner. The Australian rider spent the test session to reduce the chattering in his bike.
On the other hand, the Spanish rider spent the session to improve his RC213V. The crew worked on the engine mapping and overall setup to improve the feedback from the track.
Pedrosa’s best lap time on the first day was 1 minute and 3.68 seconds which he improved on the final day of the test. His best lap time on the second day was improved by half a second with 1 minute and 31.807 seconds.
He was able to run 45 laps on the second day. While running his 12th lap he recorded his best shot for the day. Stoner ran 33 laps for the second day.
This was the last official MotoGP outing for the riders to test their machines. The next planned outing will be held in late January.
The Spaniard added, “It will be interesting to go to Sepang and continue working under very different conditions, with harder tyre compounds and a much higher track temperature. In general, I'm leaving Valencia in a good mood, more for the improvements we've
made than for the lap times, which are not so important for me in winter testing.”
Since the first day, Pedrosa made slight changes on his bike and enhanced his setup. He also worked on his rear shock setup and to improve the traction.
After testing on the first day, he claimed to improve the corner entry even under braking conditions.
Though he ended his 2011 season at the fourth place behind former teammate Andrea Dovizioso, but he proved his mettle aboard RC213V.
