Repsol Honda’s Stoner, Pedrosa, Dovizioso ready for Grand Prix of Japan – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda trio Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso are headed to Japan for the factory’s sole home event in the season at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit.
The riders will commence the 15th event of the MotoGP calendar on October 2, 2011.
The Aussie holds a significant lead in the world championship with 44 points from runner up and defending world champion, Jorge Lorenzo.
Stoner said, “Motegi is quite a different circuit, it's similar in a way to Le Mans and is very stop-start, a little like a go kart track, but in general it's more fun than some of the other circuits we visit. It has a lot of hard breaking, a lot of hard
accelerating.”
While commenting on the track layout, Stoner added that it is slightly tough on physique. The technical layout of the circuit can push any rider to run wide if he misses braking points, he said.
The hard braking corners open up in short straights. The only aim for the team is to win as they did in Motorland Aragon. The Aussie says it is very crucial to exactly tune the setup for Motegi.
Their 2010 outing at Motegi was with Ducati and Stoner claims it to be one of his best races, but now he expects to experience something new and positive with Honda RCV.
The staggeringly improving Italian rider, Andrea Dovizioso is third in the championship with a 15-point lead from his teammate Dani Pedrosa. Dovizioso hopes to claim podium in the next rounds especially after his crash in the first lap at Motorland Aragon.
He is conscious to at least sustain his position in the championship until the end of the season.
Dovizioso said, “We go to Japan focused on returning to the podium, this has to be our target. We will arrive at the Japanese GP this year in the same position we were last year - straight from a crash and zero points, but I’m determined to transform this
disappointment with extra motivation.”
Dovizioso has enjoyed many podiums at Motegi in several classes and aims to run well this time as well.
The Spanish Repsol rider, Dani Pedrosa likes Motegi. He has been riding well at the venue in past and enjoys the support of fans.
