Reptile wood mold?

I have a crested gecko and every time i try to put a piece of grapewood, it grows mold. I don't have a uvb or any light on the tank. I want to put more pieces of it in there but i don't want the mold. would it help if i had a uvb light in the tank during the day.

You may simply want to try a different piece (or type) of wood. Are you baking it thoroughly before putting it in the tank? if the humidity is high in the tank you may simply have to compromise and buy artificial limbs
