Reptiles in Peru?

Hi I'm a big reptile fan and I want to know if in the jungle I will be able to buy snakes, lizards and stuff like that now that Im going to Peru next week.

  1. You might be able to get snake skins in the Iquitos markets (specially in one at the "Casa de Hierro" a metal house constructed by Eiffel), which are bough from the local indians,  but any live animals are black market.


  2. I wouldn't buy anything in the black market, if the cops catch you and send you to jail for a day you will be screwed, literally, there are many inmates who would love to have an exotic foreigner cell mate....just don't.

  3. Don't even think about it Joshua. You will be able to see a lot of reptiles in the peruvian jungle (Iquitos on the northeast or Manu on the southeast) but every specie is protected by the government. Some people may try and sell you toucans and turtles or snakes (black market) but you wont be able to take them out of the country and you will be arrested at Lima's airport. So my advice will be take plenty of pictures but dont buy anything.
