  1. Tortoises

    they are

    -Suprisingly fun to play with/race

    -doesn't bite

-most items you need for it are household/hardware shed items such as ( 10'' round light, thermomter, bowl, bookcase  (as home/Tortoise Table, food (lettuce),

-live long and reconize you as a owner/buddy

    -love you unconditionly

    -low matiance

    -doesn't lay a TON of eggs/babies

  2. urmastyx,bearded dragons, ball pythons,

  3. Veiled Chameleons

they are gorgeous and interesting to observe! i have 3 now!

  4. if you want something small and easy to hand feed without the risk of being bit, I would say try an Agama (little lizards that are neat to look at and fun to hold) or if you want something bigger there are Skinks or Plated Lizards they are usually mild tempered and very easy to handle.  If you want something that get huge try a Monitor or Iguana.  If you prefer snakes try a Ball Python they do get large about 4 or 5 feet or more, or maybe try a corn snake, milk snake, or even if you want a cross between the two try a legless lizard. (lizard face with a snake body) I am getting one of those this week.  yay!!  All of these reptiles are very easy to keep and train.  the iguana that I have is actually paper trained and walks freely around the house.  Very fun.  Good lluck in your search.  And don't vote the first guy best answer just because he told you to, very selfish.

  6. Depends on what you want

Snakes: snakes you feed mice once a week and clean out their cage every month and your done plus most enjoy being held

1.corn snake- 3-4' but very slender, they eat well and dont bite

2.ball python, they get 5-6' and are very fat bodied but they look pretty BA, they like being held but can have some problems feeding

    3. rosy boa or kenyan sand boa- both get 2-3' and are nice and dont bite usually.

lizards: they require more care then snakes and cost more to feed.

Loepard gecko- these stay small at 8-9" and can live in a 20 gallon aquarium, they are friednly and like to be held

most other lizards are harder to take care of and get very large.

In my opinion snakes are the best, i have 6 right now and have 2 lizzards.

  7. ok here is list of reptiles that are HANDS DOWN the best choices for a first time reptile pet: in no particular order is

    #1: corn snakes

    #2: leopard geckos

    #3: bearded dragons

#4: most king & milk snakes

    #5: ball pythons

p.s. there are a few others that could make this list (i.e.  crested geckos, blue tongue skinks) but these 5 have been truly proven by the test of time.and make sure you get a few good books on whatever animal you choose and do plenty of research  on them BEFORE you get the animal . thats  one of the first mistakes people make in this hobby.
