Republican Party?

Do you feel that it has strayed from it's ideals? If you do, why?

Is the party still for "small government"?

Is the party still for a more isolationist approach?

Does the party still hold an anti-war ideal?

Is the party still interested in state's rights over federal?

  1. Yes.

  2. This is why I hate our current republican party.  I align myself with the republican party, but I am more of the traditional republican party...  I stand for the statements you stated above.

  3. Yes.  Back in the 1850s republicans were the liberals and democrats were the conservatives.  Therefore, both parties have strayed.

  4. You are observant. Republicans are getting away from conservatism. Do you know whose fault that is? That is the fault of the people who voted them in there. It is the fault of the voters that stayed home.

If men of wisdom and knowledge, of moderation and temperance, of patience, fortitude and perseverance, of sobriety and true republican simplicity of manners, of zeal for the honour of the Supreme Being and the welfare of the commonwealth; if men possessed of these other excellent qualities are chosen to fill the seats of government, we may expect that our affairs will rest on a solid and permanent foundation.

  5. both parties have forgotten their basic tenants when they were formed.  so yes i agree that my party has changed significantly over the years.  i have also seen many who are working to bring it back to it's ideals and i am one of them

while i do not agree with some of what my party leaders have espoused, i know that everything evolves and in some  respects this is good and practical as society does the same but there are basics that should not be altered if we are to retain our core beliefs.

as a republican but yet an independent thinker, i have seldom voted straight party tickets.  i even voted for our current democratic governor.  i have issues with both my party and my president.  what i find astounding is the Dem's seem to never question their leaders but blindly follow and defend them regardless of what they do or say.

it seems that dems are quick to critize the republicians but their leaders seem to be above any critizism.

i challenge any democratic posters to be as honest and forthcoming....if it is possible.

  6. Small government? h**l no. They are for the police, the Christian Church and the military.

Isolationist? Nope. Definitely all about economic warfare and using the military to back it up.

    Anti-war? LOL.

And states rights? How can they be for state's rights when they have basically destroyed half the Bill of Rights with the Patriot Act? You have to love the Republicans for that one. Peace is War. War is Peace. Love is hate.

Did they channel 1984 when they elected Bush? I wonder.
