  1. The parties differ in their perception of the role of Government.

The republicans believe that the free market and business can provide the needs of our country in the most efficient manner and the government should not interfere. They also believe that people should suffer the results of their own actions or circumstances.

The democrats believe that unregulated business has done great harm in the past, and business and the market need to be held to the rule of law in the same way as people. They also believe that people suffering from bad times or circumstances can be brought back to productive lives by giving assistance to help them toward that end.

  2. As an ex-Democrat most of my life, I could no longer be associated with what is now a socialist party and the vile nature of their members. You only have to look at Y/A, the Daily Koz, Huffington Post etc to see the the sewage they stoop to.

I have been a registered Independent for the last three years and lean Republican. With the reality of what the Democratic Party has become I do not believe I will ever vote for a Democrat again, no matter what their qualifications. Thee has to be something very wrong with them to attract the kind of people that register as a Democrat.

  3. Well they're basically polar opposites.

But for similarities, they're both annoying, both hypocrites, and corrupt.
