Republican morality - keep your kids ignorant, then a shotgun wedding?

Shouldn't our children be allowed to make informed decisions, and not be lied to by "abstinence only" groups?

Republican morality--give your kids the love and support they need and teach them the best that you can. Then allow them to make their own decisions and mistakes. Unconditionally love and support them through it all.

Democrat morality--abstinence is NOT the answer to NOT getting pregnant. DON'T abstain, use condoms, which are not 100% affective, unlike abstinence since if you don't have s*x, you can't get pregnant--most of the time. (I did.)

How exactly do you know it's a "shotgun wedding?" Are you saying that 17 year olds are not able to love someone enough to want to spend their lives building a family together? My grandmother was 17 when she got married and they were together until she died.

I don't believe that your issue is comparing Republican morality to keeping your kids ignorant or not. Ignorance doesn't play well on either side. The fact is there is only one way that is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy and that is abstinence. It's a parents choice to and duty to inform their children about the types of decisions & choices they might make in regards to having s*x. Again you can tell someone something and educate them to the 10th degree on how to prevent pregnancy but still it comes down to that individual and the choice they make at that moment. You can't be in your child's shoes at every given moment to prevent them from making a bad choice.

I'll bet there are far more illegitimate births and or abortions among the children of liberals than among conservatives.

Too many Liberals do not have the time, interest or responsibiity to teach their kids proper behaviour.

There are less then 4 million people on welfare in the United States, and almost 117 million who define themselves as Democrat.   Even assuming EVERY welfare recipient is a democrat (which is a stretch since many come from rural right states), that would be about 3.5% of all Democrats on welfare.

no. because ultimately the ONLY Way to not get pregnant that is proven to work at a 100% rate IS abstinence. Be real there is no other 100% safer way ... none.

Pills? 99% and many combination that can make it ineffective

Condom 98% with the possibility of rupture

any other way is just as inaccurate or unsafe as the first two.

So yes abstinence is the best way and should continue to be used as the number one way to avoid pregnancy.
