They are paraded in front of a National Audience - Huh? The Republican message about the Palin offspring comes across as contradictory: Hey, media, leave those kids alone — so we can use them as we see fit.

If you doubt this scenario, consider this: On Wednesday morning, a teenage boy from Alaska stood in a receiving line on an airport tarmac, being glad-handed by the potential next president of the United States — because he got his girlfriend pregnant. TV cameras were lined up in advance. The mind boggles.

Either the children are out of bounds, and you don't put them in the photo ops, or you don't complain when somebody wants to talk about them. You can't have it both ways,

Right now, it looks like they're being used by the campaign more than the media are using them,

I'm all for leaving the family out of it, but you can't have it both ways.

  1. you put families in photo ops to show that they are just like the rest of us. That is honorable, and Obama has been letting his family speak on his behalf too.

criticizing a pregnancy and suggesting that someone's kid's decisions can affect their ability to lead the country is a different story all together

  2. We never said that.  Obama is the person one who was saying that the family should be off limits.

  3. Didn't obama parade his kids on national tv? Why the double standard?

  4. Obama said "families are off limits"

  5. Right, unlike Obama who had no problem with the media pointing out that his wife was only proud of America after he started getting votes?

  6. when fdr was pres. they never showed him below the waist.  there is just no respect for their personal life.

  7. Myles,

If you were nominated as the VP of the USA would you want your family there?

Even your liberal media MSNBC, CNN, and ABC were aiming their cameras at Palin's family and children.

I found it completely normal during her speech that the camera went to her family a few times.

  8. well Obama said family is off limits too and he's sure as h**l not a republican
