Question:

Republicans: Why is experience so unimportant to you now?

It's never been in issue with us liberals... for me it's always been less important than judgement or ability to lead...

but because Obama is so young, you have always attacked his inexperience... (not even unjustly. I admit, he does not have as full a background as most past presidents, you're RIGHT about that)

why are you so OKAY with a VP who has ONLY run a state for part of her first term which has a population that is 670,000...

So what's the deal? Why don't you care about Experience anymore?

(please don't answer with 'better than so and so days in the congress...because PLEASE be reminded that "experience" as this VAGUE concept for being qualified, is not a concern of mine... it is and HAS been YOUR concern...)

  1. First of all, two years as governor is MUCH more experience than 3 years as a senator.

Second, Obama has been all about CHANGE and shaking up Washington, but he chooses someone that has been there for 30 some years. The candidates are trying to pick someone that balances out weak areas of themselves.

  2. Leadership experience DOES matter.  Palin has had 12 years of political leadership experience (mayor and governor), plus she was on the city council for 4 years before that.

I'm not trying to take away from the experience Obama does have (10 years as state and US senator), but that, to me, is not as valuable as a leadership position like mayor or governor - in those positions, you are the final decider, unlike a senator.
