Sounds pretty SOCIALIST to me. Taking money from the energy companies who worked hard to EARN it and handing it to the unwashed masses of Alaska who did NOTHING to deserve it. Does Governor Palin consider herself the modern Robin Hood, redistributing wealth according to some misplaced sense of entitlement?

They don't know what to think anymore. Personally I like Obama's plan which would use Big Oil's stranglehold to create more jobs and new forms of energy to end the stranglehold.

I think the difference you fail to realize is that Palin gave the windfall back to the citizens, making it a true windfall.  Obama plans on using the windfall to fund new government programs and his mammoth healthcare overhaul. (In other words, democrat pork projects)

the opposition is to windfall taxes on peoples individually investments and 401k's , That was not proposed by Palin , it was by Pelosi and the democratic party to tax peoples hard earned retirements.

Windfall taxes will always be a contentious issue debated between the shareholders of profitable companies and the rest of society. This issue came to a head in 2005, when oil and gas companies, such as Exxon Mobil who reported profits of US$36 billion for the year, experienced unusually large profits due to rising energy prices.

Windfall taxes on big business are different . It taxes them off a gross income of 36 billion dollars. Republicans see fit to tax these companies not individual people.
