Bush has worked hard the last 8 years digging the USA into a hole.

$9,654,689,786,863.32 is our current debt.

How can the USA get out of this debt without any taxes??

It was our choice electing the dumba** Bush...... We must fix our problem.

If we continue not paying taxes, we can call ourselves a third world country...

Republicans, you say no to tax........... How is this helping our economy?

  1. Obama will raise taxes and increase government spending so, our current debt will continue to rise.

The more we are taxed the less we can spend and the harder it will be for the economy to recover.

Do you really think that more government assistance will be helpful?  Many people will stand in line for hours for something free.  There are many people that will do nothing for something.

Canada is experiencing problems of slow access to treatment -- especially in small towns and rural areas.  Just to get a routine checkup must be made months in advanced.  Or you can go to the walk-in clinic and wait for hours at a time to see someone but you will see a different doctor each time and no one will know your medical history.  (after all it is a clinic not your regular doctor's office -- which couldn't see you today because it wasn't an emergency)

Most top tiered doctors will seek more lucrative jobs in larger cities or the US because they can demand it.  If you are a doctor graduating at the bottom or your class then you may take a less paying job because you barely passed yourself and no one is courting you anyway.

I guess you want to equalize it all and have us just get mediocre doctors.  Or have the doctor get back to us, because he had to look up the answer.  You know why capitalism works... if you do well -- you get rewarded.  Socialism -- encourages people to just do the minimum because no matter how well you do, you still get the same as the guy who did it just to get by.

Higher taxes means I will spend less on the things that I would like to give to my children and therefore less in the economy.  I have already cut out many of the things that I like to do.  I don't think I can do much more.

I don't say no taxes ... I am saying reduce our taxes and our government programs -- as a country we do not save.  If you can't afford much ... then don't go out and see movies, rent them.  If you can't afford much, then don't get the latest and greatest cellphone (iphone, blackberry, etc), if you can't afford much, then stop your cable subscription, if you can't afford much, then don't eat out etc...

Budget, save, invest... your average millionaire didn't make 6 figures they saved, budgeted adn invested.  That is why.  Don't take that away from them because they were frugal and smarter with their money.

I am raising independent children who can fend for themselves and who know the value of the dollar and the value of a hard day's work.  I don't want them to abuse the system.

Why don't we have volunteer taxes for those who want higher taxes and they can decide where their taxes go.  ... let's see how that works.  rather than tax people who are already taxed enough.

  2. By cutting wasteful government spending. Something McCain/Palin will do.

If you don't know some of the wasteful things the government does and you think it has to do with power, you're a moron.

Montana spent 3 million dollars finding out the DNA of bears. That's considered as wasteful spending.

  3. lowering taxes is consistant with the laffe curve look it up on wiki.  The laffe curve has proven time and time again the lower the taxes the more people will spend bringing in money for the goverment

  4. Harmful Spending & Complexity

Lower tax rates are important, but they are not the only critical issue. Both the level of government spending and where that money goes are very important. And even when looking only at tax policy, tax rates are just one piece of the puzzle. If certain types of income are subject to multiple layers of tax, as occurs in the current system, that problem cannot be solved by low rates. Similarly, a tax system with needless levels of complexity will impose heavy costs on the productive sector of the economy.

Big Problem in USA - Earmarks and Pork that are funnelled to Labor Unions for unnecessary projects and special interest groups.  These are done in secret and tacked onto bills at the last minute.  Many roadblocks happen because of this and needed legislation isn't passed, it is veto'd (usually by Repubs)

We are in debt because of the cost of war.  We are still recovering from The 9/11 attack, that is why preventing more attacks is necessary.

New York Counts Cost of 9/11

The terrorist attack of September 11 could cost New York up to $95bn (£60bn), according to the city's own independent financial watchdog, making it more expensive than America's largest ever natural disaster.

City comptroller William Thompson estimates that America's financial capital has lost 83,000 jobs over the past year. In a report out yesterday he added that prospects for an estimated 63,000 new jobs were erased when last September's fledgling recovery on Wall Street was undermined by the attacks on the World Trade Centre.

The city's jobless rate - at 7.7% in July - is already higher than the national rate of 5.9%.

Mr Thompson reckons it will cost the city almost $22bn to replace the buildings, infrastructure and other amenities destroyed when two hijacked commercial airliners were flown into the twin towers.

The attacks killed nearly 3,000 people and forced the New York stock exchange to close for six days. Many high-profile financial institutions had to relocate from Manhattan to New Jersey.

The collapse of the towers and the damage to property in the Wall Street area removed almost 13m sq ft [1.2m sq metres] of office space from downtown Manhattan.

As well as the cost of the clean-up and rebuilding work, New York has lost nearly $3bn in taxes as companies moved out of Manhattan into temporary accommodation in New Jersey.

The city is likely to have to pick up the tab for $500m in unreimbursed expenses, according to Mr Thompson's calculations.

The financial effects of the September 11 attacks far outweigh the most expensive natural disaster in US history. In 1992 Hurricane Andrew raged across the southern tip of Florida, killing 28 people and causing more than $25bn worth of damage.

New York's mayor, Michael Bloomberg, has already warned that taxes may have to be increased if the city is unable to secure more federal aid as it struggles with a forecast budget deficit next year of $5bn.

Mr Thompson, however, has already made it plain that he will not allow the city to relax its fiscal rules, for fear that New York will find itself repeating the financial crisis that forced the city close to bankruptcy in the 1970s.

Although the terrorist attacks have altered the priorities of New York's politicians Mr Thompson has also made it plain that the city must not forget the need for housing for low and middle-income people in parts of the city.

We must stay diligent in protecting America.

  5. Because it's easy to pick up your business and leave this country.  Right now they need incentive to stay...hence McCain's tax relief.  Obama will tax these corporations and they will simply close up shop and move to India, China, Indonesia, Philipenes, UAE,Mexico...you name it!  Then who is Obama going to tax when there's no one left to tax?  The unemployed American citizens?

  6. This isn't that hard to figure out.  My dad owned hoses and apartments that he rented out.  If his taxes went up, he raised the rent.  The people renting from him did not get a pay raise, so it cost them more money.  My dad did not make any more money, but he did not make any less.  All businesses are run that way.  How many poor people out there are wanting to give you a job.

  7. In a practical sense: if you raise my taxes too high, I will not be able to hire more workers. that is just the way it is.

  8. well I never said that!!!! I think we should have a straight 5% tax across all income levels.  That way no one can complain about whats fair.

  9. Republicans want lower taxes for big business, not you and I. Apparently if we give subsidies, tax breaks, and allow big business to abuse employees, they're gonna pass the savings down to us.

Trickle-down economics is the most ignorant theory ever devised.

  10. The government wastes so much money. The kids have good teachers, it is the kids and parents that have to care about doing their homework. Don't blame taxes on that.

  11. palin has that answer.

get rid of government waist and pork spending.

we spend more in pork than we spend on the actual bills themselves.

I just watched 7 street workers standing and sitting for 7 hours yesterday at the side of the road. ONE had a broom in his hand. after the 3rd hour, I walked over and asked what all of them were doing, they said they had to sweep a 5 foot section of the curb.

7 hours and 7 men to sweep paper from a 5 foot by 1 foot strip!!!

    LOL

yeah, too much waist in the government.,

  12. We can keep taxes low by shrinking the government and by spending less.

High taxes would kill the economy right now.

  13. All I’ve heard from Obama is higher taxes and great new programs.  He has said NOTHING about reducing our debt.  Remember the promise of healthcare for all and the tax advantages of reducing our military and intelligence budgets?  Remember standing back and let the extremist do their thing without response?

All that bought us was 911 with no ability to protect ourselves afterwards.  Bush spent a lot of money on building up a military force to protect us  and go after the perpetrators.  Bush spent a lot of money on increasing our intelligence force to stave off another attack and search for terrorists on our own soil.  Bush spent a lot of money getting us to the point we were during the Reagan years.  It was the 8 Clinton years that made us as vulnerable and weak coupled with a failure to add another social program to our “welfare state” package.

Take away the military and intelligent spending along with the “healthcare for all” programs and yes, you’ve got big savings.  You’re also left with a country at the mercy of fanatics.

  14. If that's what you believe, save us all and send your entire paycheck to the government,to help pay off the deficit.Any one who's been alive long enough knows that the economy prospers when taxes have been lowered encouraging growth, more generated tax revenue, and a better outlook for the people on spending.

  15. We are at war the deficit always goes up when your at war. Keeping taxes low allows the American people to keep more of their own money. You guys are so quick to make the corporations pay more money in taxes. If that happens, these businesses will start laying people off. They will cuts jobs that they feel they can do without to make up for the difference that they pay in taxes. The people who will lose are the middle class to lower income. People who are at the poverty level won't care because their already collecting off of some welfare program that our taxes pay for. These businesses make a lot of money but, why should they have to foot the bill. There should be a straight tax across the board of 8%  this way everybody will pay their fair share. There are tons of people that make over $250,000. a year such as Doctor's, Lawyers etc.. Everybody will  be affected by this if it happens, don't think it won't affect you.

  16. Because when we are taxed and they take more money out of our already skinny wallets, then we tend to spend less which affects our economy, because we do not spend any money because we don't have it to spend.  So raising taxes is not the answer either.  If they would stop government waste, then we will start to get somewhere, but they will never do that.

Obama voted ....NO.... to protect the family budget from runaway government spending. date voted 3-13-08

he voted ....NO.... to pay down the federal debt and eliminate government waste by reducing spending 5% on ineffective programs.date voted 3-13-08

He voted ....NO.... to establish a deficit-neutral reserve fund to improve energy efficiency and production. Date voted 3-13-08

sound to me Obama if full of it

  17. The rich had high taxes before Bush came to office.

When he became president, he lowered them.

If they go back up, it'll be what they were paying before he came to office.

Also, people think that Obama is going to raise taxes and he's NOT.

    Do the math:

    $250,000 / 12

    Divide the # by 4

Are you making that? If not, your taxes won't be raised.

  18. It would help the poor people that can't get back and forth to work because of gas. It would help people that can't make it out there because of taxes. You want to raise taxes? That's not going to help pay for anything, it's just going to be spent. My taxes go on stupid things like the g*y Pride Parade, and building golden palaces for leaders of the UN. My taxes go for helping selfish women get abortions.  None of it goes towards paying off debt. Grow up.

  19. lower taxes will help me as an individual being middle class civilian. it will help small businesses be able to provide health insurance to their employees, so we aren't paying for their children's WIC WELFARE and FOOD STAMPS. What you  don't get is this did not start with the bush team it started 4 years prior with the Clinton team, while we paid billions and billions on his court case while he lied and deceived the country, we were being plotted against. now this should have been caught way earlier, but we were preoccupied with his sexual misconduct and infidelity. the taliban had the perfect plan being set forth perfect date, the guys had been here years and years learning how to fly, learning our system. the economy has many factors to factor in before bashing your president its disrespectful no matter what party you are, in fact it is illegal, unless you are a hippie tieing yourself to a tree asking to be arrested. learn some tack in the way you state your questions. this is still the usa and we are all proud to be here and should stand behind the president good or bad, it makes us look weak and venerable. think before you speak, freedom of speech will be your come back and I say once again think before you speak, especially on line. PS i have lived in Mexico for years, I suggest you go over there for a year experience the words you write, then lets see

  20. Ohhh Bush did it Bush Did IT Bush DID IT? Is that all you people can say?  As if Congress had nothing to do with the conflict in Iraq or approved funding for it or has not overspent our hard earned money like kids gone beserk in a candy store.  Cant you think a little deeper than just stopping at Bush and placing all the blame for everything under the sun on him?-------------------How do we reduce the debt without raising taxes?  You cut government spending you cut ear marks and pork barrel projects, you cut government waste and demand accountability. We have to tighten our belts in hard times why shouldnt our government be forced to do the same.  A good commander eats the same food as his troops!!! Make them feel the pain for a change lay them off in droves shut em down and get them off our backs they are killing us slowly with a death of a thousand cuts and you want more of it ?

  21. Finally, someone who is saying the same thing I have been thinking.

Two ways to keep a business or government going-----increase revenue or decrease costs.

If you decrease revenue (tax in the case of government), how can you stay in business?

When economies are growing, government's revenue increases just because of the growth. It's hard to grow an economy when your government is spending a great deal of it's money paying interest on its debt. Much of that interest is sucked out of our country to other nations that have loaned us money.
