I was actually quite impressed with the way she spoke, the way she did not crumble under the pressure of all the ugly things being said about her.I now believe she will do very well in the upcoming debates. The Republicans at the convention seemed to truly accept her.I am starting to get a better picture of the person she is and I think she will make a wonderful VP.Any thoughts, and please keep it clean and about politics-no Bristol bashing.GOD-bless

  1. Outstanding.  No matter who wins this election (McCain or Obama), I could see her running and getting elected President next time around (I figure McCain for just one term if he wins).  She has charisma and a populist message that will resound with a lot of people.  Frankly, I think she's the conservative version of Obama.

  2. Grand Slam!

  3. She is great.

  4. I think she did a wonderful job. I believe she's definitely ready to take on Biden, and she'll win. I'm hoping that during the debates she will let us all know what plans McCain and Palin have for the necessary changes we need in government. We already know where they stand on Energy, and I'm all for that. T.Boone Pickens is right too. Thankfully we will see those changes when McCain and Palin win in November. God bless.

  5. Good delivery by Palin on a poorly written speech.  She did about as good as could be expected for the quality of the work she was handed by the speech writers.

For someone who is relatively unknown, her speech didn't discuss her background very much and focused too much on Obama and not enough of what she hoped to accomplish working with McCain.

Ad hominem attacks on Obama and Biden are not going to win the election for McCain and Palin.  They need to say what they represent and what they plan to do and how they will be different from Bush.

  6. Magnificent, Impeccable, Brilliant, Professional, Forthright, Impressive, Gutsy, Honest, Down-to-earth, etc., etc.

  7. she seemed very angry and bitter and petty. not like a diplomat, more like a mad mom at a pta meeting.

and she was caught in several lies.

i kept listening for their platform, for issues, but all i heard was mccain @ss-kissing and personal insults on the other side.

    very unimpressed.

  8. Full of lies

PALIN: "I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending ... and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress 'thanks but no thanks' for that Bridge to Nowhere."

THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million. In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport, that opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a "bridge to nowhere."

PALIN: "The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes, raise payroll taxes, raise investment income taxes, raise the death tax, raise business taxes, and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars."

THE FACTS: The Tax Policy Center, a think tank run jointly by the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, concluded that Obama's plan would increase after-tax income for middle-income taxpayers by about 5 percent by 2012, or nearly $2,200 annually. McCain's plan, which cuts taxes across all income levels, would raise after tax-income for middle-income taxpayers by 3 percent, the center concluded.

Obama would provide $80 billion in tax breaks, mainly for poor workers and the elderly, including tripling the Earned Income Tax Credit for minimum-wage workers and higher credits for larger families.

He also would raise income taxes, capital gains and dividend taxes on the wealthiest. He would raise payroll taxes on taxpayers with incomes above $250,000, and he would raise corporate taxes. Small businesses that make more than $250,000 a year would see taxes rise.
