Question:

Republicans have done nothing to stop abortion in 35 years. Why do one-issue voters keep voting for them?

Hoping they actually will do something? All they do is provide lip service to a cause to get votes.

Before anyone misfires at me, I've been pro-choice since 2002.

  1. The Judiciary is not controlled by direct vote; the President cannot make law; and the Congress is too interested in pandering to profitable voting blocks and special interests to do anything useful other than spend our money. The President and the Congress can do nothing more than grandstand and pander; the Supreme Court has decided that the rights in the Constitution do not apply to humans until they're fully out of the v****a. And that's it.

Red China has solved the concerns over abortion: it's mandatory. Totalitarianism is just so much more convenient when it comes to such contentious issues, and there's never any silly document like the Constitution to stand in the way of the leader's dictates.

I think American single-issue voting is fairly stupid, but it's better than no-issue non-voting.

  2. That's not true.  There's only so much we can do with a misguided SCOTUS decision standing in the way.  The only things which are possible are to pass a Human Life Amendment, which is almost doomed to failure, or work on getting pro-life justices to the Supreme Court.  That's the most advantageous route to take, and the one the GOP is taking.

  3. You are right.

And they oppose things that would reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies and thus increase the number of abortions.

    It is insane.

  4. That's true to some extent. But the Democrats don't even pay lip service. In fact, they actively work to liberalize the abortion laws. So, by voting Republican, pro-lifers at least hope to keep the laws the same instead of expanding them in a pro-abortion direction.

  5. I'm not sure why you think the Republicans have done "nothing". In 2003 a Republican congress passed the Partial Birth Abortion Act which was signed into legislation by Presdient Bush and subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court. The Republicans stopped a procedure so horrific even the n***s couldn't have dreamed it up. By the way, although too new to national politics to have been a participant in the legislation, Barack Obama has said that he diasgrees with the ban & with the Supreme Court decision. If you don't know what a terrible thing partial birth abortion is, you should do some research before supporting Obama.

  6. Republicans found a sure fire way to get votes from deluded sheeple and they are going to milk that cow as long as they can.  If abortion was illegal, no wedge issue.

Same thing with the whole g*y marriage flap that came up before the 2004 election.  I thought voting for Bush was going to stop that cold?  Remind me again why Ellen and Portia got married recently?  Oh yeah, g*y marriage was not stopped.

g**s, guns, and anti abortion.  It's what's on the menu for the right wing.

  7. If enough anti-choice presidents get elected they can appoint anti-choice judges to the supreme court and declare Roe v Wade unconstitutional and make abortion a crime.  So out come the coathangers and illegal abortions.

  8. So according to your logic Hillary supporters should vote for McCain now since they have nothing to worry about.

  9. Really, I think this one-issue voter thing has been blown way off. I don't really think it holds much truth - it's not that big of a group. Anyway, those who actually ARE, I don't know. I don't really care much for abortion rights. I can see valid arguments in both sides.

  10. there's a lot of one issue voters... g*y rights or the baby boomers, immigration, etc.

i;ve always been a firm believer in administering IQ tests before allowing anyone to vote. no matter what side of the ticket you're for..there's a lot of ppl who should NOT be voting

  11. Because they enjoy lubing up and bending over for the bait and switch republican big business, fake family values fake patriotism hypocrites.

  12. For the first six years of this administration the republicans had complete control of government, yet basically nothing was done to resolve the ever popular hot button issue of abortion. Even more sad, the party of national security has not secured our borders and rarely even speak of Bin Laden any longer, even though their war on terror is all important. I'm confused.

  13. We don't want to stop it Libs are the ones doing it so soon no mo libs.
