it should get u to the hotel .....

  2. As someone else pointed out, it's for a calendar week. A calendar week in France is from Monday to Sunday, not Sunday to Saturday as in many other countries.

If your trip does fit in this time frame, it is a very good deal.

The five zone ticket is not valid for the airports.

I would recommend you get only the carte hebdomadaire for only zones 1-2,  which costs 16 euros, and top it up with single tickets for the airport, Versailles, Disney. In which case, you shouldn't get it from the airport.

You will need a passport sized photo, which you just stick on the photocard and fold over the flap.

The official line is that the carte orange is for people who live or work in the region. So some staff may not be very helpful. But you can always buy the coupon at a slot machine. Note, it is only valid if accompanied by a carte-orange photocard, which you can get free from the infromation desks.

If your stay straddles weeks, you can get a one day ticket, for about 5.50 euros (price set to rise in July, I don't know the new price but it'll only be a few cents), covering zones 1 and 2 for each day of your stay that you make more than 5 rides on the metro. No photocard needed. But even if you buy it on a Wednesday and so can only use it for five days, it's still a good deal. Single rides cost €1.50, or €11 for a "carnet" of ten. You can only buy it up to Wednesday each week, valid until the following Sudnay.

  3. There are several reasons why the Carte Orange may not be right for you.

In the first place it is good for a calendar week and not just any seven day period. So if you arrive in Paris on, for example, a Wednesday, and leave on the following wenesday, you'd need to buy two of them since you'd be there during two different calendar weeks.

Even if that is not a problem then you may be paying for more than you need. Most travel by tourists in Paris is in zones 1&2. Buying a pass for zones 1-5 is an uneccessary expense.

I find that most people are better off calculating what their costs will be for travel to and from the airport and to places outside zones 1-2 such as Disneyland and checking this against the cost of the pass. In most cases the pass is not a good buy.

The RER fare to disney land from anywhere in Paris is 6.25€ - 12.50€ r/t.
