I'm deciding about mechatronics or mechanical engineering

My question is that does lates effect entry to a University? Say I had a lot of lates in grade 11 but hardly any in grade 12 with a high average. Is there a chance for me to get accepted? My goal is to be accepted to the University of Waterloo (Canadian) after grade 12.

This is my last year (entering grade 12)

  1. No, lates do not matter, ESPECIALLY in grade 11. Unless it was an incredibly huge offense which resulted in school board intervention, there is no way that the number of lates you had in grade 11 would affect your chances at admission.

The only way it could affect you is if you need a letter of recommendation, in which case your principal/teacher might not have the best of things to say about you. But I doubt UW requires one.

Just do well academically, and you should have no problems getting into UW. You'll find that MOST programs will focus directly on your academic history (and extra curriculars) and very rarely would they deny you admission because of a disciplinary measure. (unless it was something EXTREMELY serious).
