Question:

Requirements for a car : winter and highways?

My friends are planning on driving in from Ontario to Manitoba (about 24 hours driving, non-stop) and the highways are always brutal in the winter. Our winters are really cold and super icy, and I know that Ontario's aren't too much better. The person driving doesn't have enough money for a brand new car as he just got his license, but what would be some improvements on a car that would avoid accidents at the most? Like, chains on the wheels, etc etc. Please let me know, thanks!

  1. Studded snow tires on all four corners. Nothing helps on your car if te tires can't stick to the road

  2. 1. Have the vehicle completely checked over by an automotive shop before you go.

    2. Change all fluids.

    3. By a set of snow chains.

    4. Drive 2 to 3 hours and take a break.
