See I have a friend who is a Vietnamese national and is an enrolled student at a college in America. Now she wishes to participate in an exchange student programme at Stirling University in Scotland for 5 months (she got accepted already actually). What are some of the documents she needs to provide in order to apply for a visa ? Are there any specific English language proficiency requirements needed to be met ? (She speaks English even better than an English native speaker and still didn't pass the Australian visa requirements for a student visa, which I really don't understand why).

  1. Usually they need to provide documents such as proof of funds (eg will she have enough money to live on while overseas or if someone is paying for it proof of that), enough ties to the home country (proof that they will not overstay (previous visas that have been granted, family at home, assets)).

    Basic details are:

    Documentary Requirements

    1) Online application

    2) Passport (note: It should be the original document and have ample validity)

    3) One passport size photograph (Click here for example)

    4) Evidence of your immigration status in the country where you reside (e.g. Resident Card or visa). Please submit  original documents.

    5) A letter from the University, College or School confirming your unconditional acceptance for the course of study in the UK and a statement of charges for the course. Please note that visas cannot be issued to holders of conditional offers.

    6) Evidence of Government sponsorship (if appropriate)

    7) Evidence of funds (eg: loan approval, personal financial statements, financial statement and letter of support from sponsor if applicable).
