My 7 week old baby doesn't sleep and a friend suggested I try rescue sleep as this well make him sleep better and is safe to use on babies.

Has anyone tried this? Or has anyone heard of using it on babies?

  1. It may be a wee bit premature expecting a 7 week old to sleep very well.  If you haven't already - try the following:

    Swaddling so baby can't move around and startle himself too much;

    If you have a night light on - turn it off - it alters brain chemistry and wakes baby up;

    Black out blinds for bedroom - helps keep noise out too;

    Make sure all naps and sleeping take place in his crib in a quiet room and not in a chair or baby seat in a busy household;

    Make sure baby is not too warm or cold;

    Make sure baby gets adequate naps during day but not too much;

    Make sure baby is well burped/winded;

    Make sure you are not picking baby up when they are just grizzling to themselves.

    Hope all goes well.

  2. no i am a first time mom and i neva heard of rescue sleep. maybe he has Colic and u should try to do the colic symptoms to put him to sleep. do u try rocking him or maybe is he still hungry.

  3. Hi

    I have used Bach rescue remedy myself but it actually had the opposit effect and I had a panic attack! Just because they are from natural ingrediant doesnt necesserily mean they are safe.

    Why not try a couple drops of lavendar oil onto his sleepsuit - it helps a bit.

  4. Is this from Bach? These are very safe, but watch as many of them contain high alcohol concentrations. Before resorting to something like this, try to figure out why your baby isn't sleeping. For example is he teething, to warm or cold, hungary, gas in his tummy...etc. Solving the cause of the problem is very important no matter what a health issue might be. You can also try placing a drop or two of lavender essential oil near where your child sleeps, but don't over-do it. This will also be helpful until you find out what is causing the troubles. Another option is to try placing him to sleep in an infant swing, this was always helpful with my children, but do not leave them in the swing overnight.

  5. Most 7 week old babies don't sleep through the night. I know my son only started sleeping through at 11 weeks and even then he still woke at 6am.

    I have never heard of rescue sleep remedy before nor do i know if it is safe to use on babies.

    My suggestion to try and get your baby to sleep better is to do a bedtime routine such as bath, feed then bed and just try to be patient. All babies are different and your baby will start sleeping through when it is ready.

    My mum's foster child is 18 months old and she still wakes twice in the night for a bottle.

    EDIT - Have you tried swaddling your son and putting him in a darkened room to sleep? This normally works well with getting babies to sleep.

  6. i used it on my baby from about 7 months, don't think it really works though as it is really really sweet tasting so he just has  a tantrum for even more! but still doesn't sleep any better
