  1. I think Cracker Barrel sells postcards or cards (about $3) which have prices and things that were going on in 1964.

Usually the best place is the local library--they'd have old newspapers on microfilm/microfiche in their archives.  If they don't have it, or they don't go back far enough, try a local college or university library.  Both would also have a "local history" section devoted to your area.  Sometimes you have to get special permission from the librarian to get into the room or to get books that are locked up because they are valuable, irreplaceable, or not in the best of condition.
