Question:

Researching oscar fish?

I am thinking of getting one oscar, but some places say they grow better in a school, some say alone, and some say only 2. Does anybody know a good place to research oscars? how many can you have? How big of a tank? What goes good with oscars? ect... I keep finding completely different answers. How do I know which ones are reliable?

  1. pet superstores don't know their a*s from their elbow.

for more than one mature oscar you're looking at at least 150 gallons to allow for them to establish territories as they grow up. they are highly territorial as they grow up, and quite happy alone.

have a read through these sites:

  2. I have a 200 Gallon tank with 3 oscars and a pleco And they have lots of room. They are full grown and are about 6-8 inches long.

On the internet nothing is really reliable, ask your local pet smart or pet land, they will know.
