Firstly what is the difference between a reseller and a distributor?

Do both resellers and distributors buy directly from the manufacturer?

How do you go about becoming a reseller/distributor for a manufacturer?

Thanks

  1. Well it depends. In the strictest sense, like the last user said, yes resellers ship and sell the product while distributors just give out large quantities of product to everyone and businesses.

The difference is often, but not always, the fees charged. Resellers will pay more per unit of product than a distributor. Distributors will get a big discount on product per unit because they ship and sell large quantities very fast to a lot of people (retail stores, online websites, business, people, etc), so they make profit by sheer quantity while resellers try to make profit on charging a higher premium price to end customers and sell less product.

  2. Reseller handles the sales and shipping.

A Distributor will handle mostly the shipping, and they mostly work for that company.
