Reset mac password without earsing everything?

Question

I want to reset the adim password (I do not remember it) I have a installation disk but only the first disk

I don't want to erase picture, documents and music on the admin account.

any help here?

I need step by step instructions.

Put in the installation disk.  Restart the computer, when you hear the restart sound, hold C.  This will boot from the CD, you may have to navigate a couple of menus first, but then you will see a menu at the top of the screen labeled Utilities or something similar, under that menu is an option to reset the password.  Do that and restart the computer and you're done
