Reshma Karthik claims Girl’s Singles U17 title at All India Junior Ranking Tournament
India’s budding shuttler Reshma Karthik showed her tremendous skills on court as she claimed Girl’s Singles U17 title after crushing her team-mate Rituparna Das in the final encounter at the All India Junior Ranking Tournament 2012 at Hyderabad, India, on
Monday, August 6.
The higher ranked Reshma, who was the top seeded shuttler in Girl’s Singles U17 draw of the tournament, put up remarkable show of attacking badminton and she easily overpowered her lower ranked opponent without showing any mercy.
The top seeded Reshma did not spare any chance for Rituparna in the whole contest as she played with aggression and control and remained successful in beating her rival in straight games with a lopsided margin.
In the meanwhile, the fourth seeded Rituparna tried to put up strong resistance but she found herself helpless against the power play of her top seeded opponent and lost the match with a huge difference on the score board.
Reshma played with precision from the opening points of first set as she did not let her opponent to find a good flow. She established an early lead on score board by dictating the pace of rallies.
The in-form Reshma did not face any trouble from her rival in setting up a wonderful lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the higher ranked Reshma continued putting ups spectacular show while remaining focused and quick in all areas of the court. She played with precision and took the first set with a superb 21-14 score on the board.
In the second set, Reshma continued her roller-coaster performance as she never let her rival to take charge of rallies at any stage in the opening half.
The impressive Reshma remained successful in setting up a superb lead on score board until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, Reshma remained consistent without leaving any chance for her rival to make a comeback.
The top seeded shuttler remained successful in taking the second game with a stunning difference of 21-11.
The spirited Reshma easily stamped her mark over Rituparna in straight games with a huge 21-14 and 21-11 score on the board.
