Resident Evil 6 to feature a new game mode – Video Games Update
Capcom has announced that the upcoming Resident Evil game will feature a new online mode similar to that of the Role playing games (RPG) Demon Souls and Dark Souls.
Capcom is calling the mode ‘Agent Hunt’ and this will allow other players to enter a gamers’ single player campaign and compete as the infected zombies to try to stop the protagonist from advancing. Capcom has revealed that more than one player can ‘invade’
the game and there would also be voice chat available for the invaders so that they can strategise the best plan of attack.
The gamer playing the game will also be notified of the invaders but there will be no indicators showing which one of the countless zombies on screen are the player controlled enemies. The inclusion of this mode is great news for hardcore gamers who love
an extra challenge in their game.
The ‘invasion’ mode was first introduced by Demon Souls developed by Atlus for the PlayStation 3 and it allowed other players to enter one’s game to either help the player or to take him out. Demon Souls also allowed players to leave messages and warnings
across the levels which the player would find useful if he decided to read them.
The developer has stated that the ‘Agent Hunt’ mode will not be available on the first play-through so as not to put too much pressure on new players and first timers but will become available once the player has beaten the game and wants to replay but with
more of a challenge. The player will be able to toggle the ‘Agent Hunt’ mode while replaying cleared game stages.
This opens up many more possibilities for the game as Capcom can introduce more modes later on as downloadable content (DLC) which will focus on playing as the infected just like the ‘Mutations’ mode found in Left 4 Dead 2.
It seems that Capcom has scooped up the best ideas from every zombie game out there and is set to deliver the ultimate experience to the fans with Resident Evil 6. The game is reported to have four different campaigns and chances are that it will also feature
a competitive multiplayer mode similar to that found in the previous installment, Resident Evil 5.
Resident Evil 6 looks to be one of the biggest action titles of this year and is coming out for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC on October 2, 2012 worldwide.
