Capcom and Activision have both confirmed when their respective titles will be released this year. However, Raccoon City’s PC versions will be delayed.
For some odd reason multiplatform titles never hit all the gaming platforms at the same time; the console versions are usually the first to ship with their PC counterparts releasing weeks if not month afterwards.
Triple-A titles such as Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham City both saw their PC versions delayed for a considerable period of time, with the latter having a number of bugs and glitches even after the extra weeks of
polish.
However, more often than not if the PC version is released simultaneously with the console versions and is bug free gamers tend to prefer the non-console versions. Examples of games such as Battlefield 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
It seems both sides will have a new addition to their cause with The Amazing Spider-Man’s PC version launching simultaneously with its console versions whereas Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will be hitting PCs a full two months after the game hits
the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Starting things off with the return of the web-slinging witty humoured nerd gone superhero, as the reboot of the Spider-Man series also has a video game tie-in.
Under the watchful eye of Activision the Amazing Spider-Man game is shaping up to be a pretty decent title with a number of characters from the universe set to make an appearance. It would be premature to make comparisons with Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham
City, but if the game is even half as good, it’s sure to be a hit.
The Amazing Spider-Man will hit stores on the 26th of June across all the major platforms including the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Nintendo 3DS and DS and the Nintendo Wii. No PlayStation Vita version has been announced as yet and that seems
unlikely to change.
The game will hit stores a week before the movie with the latter release in theatres on the 3rd of July.
Moving on now to the franchise known for its survival horror action; Resident Evil has always loved for its haunting atmosphere and tension yet in recent years it has been adopting a more action oriented approach which has put off a few purists.
Operation Raccoon City changes the formula completely as it now only allows players to move and shoot but lets them play as the bad guys, which in this case are an elite team of Umbrella operatives sent out to kill any survivors.
The PC version of the game will hit stores well after the console version is released. In fact, the PC version will be available for purchase on the 18th of May, which is around two months after the game’s console release.
