Resident of California, purchase of vehicle in Wisconsin?

There is a motorcycle on e-bay that the seller (a business) says I must pay Wisconsin sales tax on the purchase, regardless of which state I live in. I live in California. Do I have to pay them sales tax? Will they pass it on to California? What will happen when I go to register the vehicle in my state?? Thanks, Larry

When you register the motorcycle in CA, use tax will be due on your purchase price. You will be able to get a credit for any sales tax you paid to another state up to the amount of CA tax due (It's called a 6406 credit)

Be sure to bring in your receipt showing the tax paid and you should have no problem receiving the credit.
