Question:

Resident permit or 1 year tourist visa (China)?

I'm a green card holder (and had applied for re-entry permit) because my husband got a job in China and now we're in China. My question is which one is best for me to get a chinese resident permit (only good for 1 year) or just get a 1 year multiple entry tourist visa? We only plan to stay here for at least 2 years then return to the States.

The problem with the resident permit here is they put a sticker on the passport and I'm worried that might jeopardized my green card status (I have to renew it next year) and when I go back to the States I don't know if it will cause problems or not when they check my passport.

Any help appreciated! Thanks.

  1. Hi,  You just need to get the residence sticker inserted into your passport.  It will have no effect on your Green Card status.

A residence permit is basically the only thing you can get at this time, (I am assuming you are there under your spouses visa correct?)

You wont even be able to get a multiple entry visa (L Visa) at this time.  A residence permit allows you to come and go from China as many times as you like and is essentially the same as a multiple entry visa..  only better..

    cheers..
