  1. There are a number of residential special schools around the country, most seem to come to an end at the age of 19.

This is the link for the Prior Education Group, they have a number of residential placements & if you contact them they should be able to tell you which ones cater for your daughter's age group:

This is a link to a site where you can use the search function to find residential special schools:

    http://www.isbi.com/isbi-searchform.asp

You should also contact Social Services, they should know of residential placements suitable for your daughter but there's also the funding issue - some of the placements may need a referral from Social Services but also guarantees of funding.

You might also find these of interest:

    AALPS

    Oakhurst Lodge

Try contacting NAS, they should also be able to put you in contact with your local support group, they should also have information on residential placements:

Edit: if her daughter has a Statement, it will have lapsed at the end of the academic year her daughter turned 19 so the Special Needs section can give information on residential placements that they know of for the 19+ category but they will simply point the questioner in the direction of either Social Services or the LSC to investigate funding.  Having said that if your daughter has a Statement, if it was amended before it lapsed, it will have useful information that Social Services will understand & that the residential placement will need.

  2. Prior's Court in Newbury.

  3. I have worked with special needs children and  have several friends with autistic children and have never heard it referred to as "the child having an autistic problem"

If you are looking for a residential school does your daughter have a statement of educational needs? If so your education authority should have links with residential schools or try contacting the National Autistic Society

  4. Springfield and Farleigh College  not sure where they are but you might want to check them out. xx
