Residents go against an Angus GC project
The Angus GC will be responsible for creating 300 posts along with 200 full-time jobs.
According to latest reports, a long-winded meeting of the Angus Council was conducted on Monday night.
One of the Angus businessmen proposed a luxury golf court resort that calls for a bucket of £55 million and added that the development would lead to an addition of 10 million in the local economy along with enhancing the global
reputation in Dundee as well.
The proposed development has been backed up by Darren Clarke who is a Ryder Cup golfer. The project is scheduled to embrace one spa, a golf youth academy, a driving range, 18 holiday cottages and 160 homes along with the GC as
well.
The proposal was accepted at the epic meeting which was held for a long stretch of four and a half hours where The Augus Council approved the development to be an 18 hole Angus GC consisting of a 5 start hotel at Shank of Omachie.
According to sources, the progression would lead to the creation of a total of 200 full time jobs. A guarantee has been given by Mike Forbes who is the Developer as well as the owner of the Kingennie Country Resort which is situated
near Broughty Ferry.
The owner also added that the new feature would be a gate way in generating approximately three hundred placements. “This is a project that is bound to have a direct positive effect on the community” Mr Forbes said.
Where Mr Forbes considers it an affirmative action as it will be directly affecting the community, many locals think otherwise. Many businesses from Dundee and Angus are in accord with the tourism industry but are walking opposite
the wills of the residents of Wellbank. Where Mr. Forbes stated the project is positive, residents are claiming it would be a threat to their village and the B road areas.
The residents in response to the proposal have formed a group titled “Save Our Village” that stands against the development of such a project. According to Greg Hutchison who is a group member, the residents are not happy at all
with the inception of the project.
“It will probably go ahead anyway” Hutchison said.
With the residents standing against the project, a voting of 15 to 7 was carried out to approve the application for the outline planning per mission. Therefore, the developers will now have to acquiesce a thorough preparation submission
at a date that will be communicated later this week.
