Resilient Sri Lanka Dominate Second Test Clash
Sri Lanka wrapped-up the West Indian innings by taking their remaining five wickets. This was done in less than two hours, on the final day of the second Test, at the Premadasa Stadium. But a composed half century from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Carlton-Baugh-c49264, came as a sigh of relief, taking the visitors well past the follow-on target. This also removed any chances of a result, in the rain-ridden second Test. West Indies resumed their innings on 165 for 5, after rain washed-out  five successive sessions of the game, in Colombo. They were bowled out for 243, still 144 runs behind Sri Lanka’s first innings total.
There was excessive drama in the game, as soon as play began. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajantha-c42419 Mendis bowled an exceptional delivery, which spun back a mile, to get Carlton leg-before. But a review taken by the batsman, showed the leg-break pitching outside the line of leg stump. The umpire’s decision was overturned for the first time in the series. However, Mendis continued to be threatening throughout his spell. This caused problems for the batsman. The two-finger “googly” was his favorite weapon, but it did not spark a dramatic collapse as expected. The West Indies at that stage were exposed, of being enforced into follow-on.
Rangana Herath’s prologue into the bowling attack was no less exciting. After being slammed for a four and a six by Dwayne Bravo, Herath came back in a vigorous manner. He also troubled Carlton many times with his dangerous bowling length. Carlton survived another close call in which the umpire’s decision was overturned once more. But there seemed no element of doubt, in Bravo’s dismissal, a few balls later. Bravo advanced down the track, attempting to repeat his fireworks, but was stumped. He was beaten by the delivery’s flight, hence paying the price for his carelessness. However, West Indies were past the follow-on target by that time.
Darren Sammy did little, to justify the fact, that his position in the team maybe gratuitous. He whipped a short delivery to Angelo Mathews at square leg. Suliemann Ben also followed suit and was caught bat-and-pad, off Herath’s bowling. Baugh only resisted for a while but was also bowled-out, after scoring his second Test half century. The result is probably going to be a draw, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 need to ponder upon  its batting, fixing the irregularities before next Thursday, to put-up a good fight.
