Resistance 3 Beta dated, Global Resistance online – News – PS3, PC
Comic-Con 2011 has been good to fans of the, PlayStation exclusive, Resistance franchise as two very well received announcements were made at the Resistance panel during the event.
All those who were in attendance were treated to a trailer that began by showing off a montage of Global Resistance. ‘What is Global Resistance?’ the reader might ask. Well the answer is both very simple and slightly complicated at the same time.
To put it simple, Global Resistance is a Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) variation of the classic board game, Risk. There is a world map, which has been divided into a number of territories and the players are split into two factions: the Humans and the
Chimera. Players get to choose which faction they wish to join when they are signing up.
Players then go on to send their troops, build their bases and complete missions in each territory, with the number of moves they can perform limited by a ‘Commander Points’ system. In essence there are four primary options available to the player. He can
deploy troops, bombs, bunkers and bunker busters to gain and hold superior numbers in an area.
Secondly, he can go on territory specific missions in an area which further strengthen one faction’s strength and reduce the other factions. Thirdly, they can build their own bases, which allow them to increase troop production and allow them to construct
bomb factories and other assets.
Lastly, players can take each other on one-on-one; each player chooses three of five attacks and is the computer simulates a battle, which players have the option of viewing in a very impressive looking comic book styled visual presentation. The victor is
the one who deals the most damage to the other side’s forces.
The game is simple to pick up, difficult to master and completely free to play, which is why it already has a relatively large player base; despite the fact that it is still in its beta version and released just over 24 hours ago.
Another interesting element, which should attract Resistance fans, is the fact that completing missions in the game will unlock content in Resistance 3. The unlocked content ranges from exclusive multiplayer skins to boosters, which can be used in Resistance
3.
Players should definitely check Global Resistance out as the current war is set to run for another eight days.
In other news, the Resistance 3 beta has been dated for a release in the early days of August. Featuring two modes, which include Chain Reaction and Team Death Match, the beta will give gamers an idea of what they can expect when the full game is released
later this year.
