PlayStation Vita News: Sony and Nihilistic unveil the third and final multiplayer mode for their upcoming Vita shooter as well as few pre-order details to entice a few early purchases.
Nihilistic is currently busy finishing up on and polishing their debut title on the PlayStation Vita, Resistance: Burning Skies. Earlier on in the month, the studio showed off their multiplayer component of the upcoming title via a trailer.
Three modes were announced but only two were shown with the studio revealing that the third mode would be revealed on a later date.
It turns out that the later date has passed and that the third mode that players can play in Resistance: Burning Skies’ multiplayer component is Survival mode. Just to clarify at this point, this is not the Call of Duty type survival mode, which consists
of endless waves of enemies that the player has to survive, but rather pits players against other players.
Sony was on hand to explain the mode and stated, "Survival mode pits the players against each other in a race to the finish where only the strong survive.”
While that introduction was slightly vague, the statement went on to explain everything with more detail. It continued, "In a battle of humans vs. Chimera, six players start as humans and two as Chimera. As the Chimera players make kills, their human victims
are resurrected as Chimera so the balance slowly shifts. As the battle continues, the winner is the human player who lasts the longest in a match.”
Before concluding, “We keep a timer running as you play so you can track your progress."
As for pre-order bonuses, well it turns out that anyone who pre-orders the game will receive three avatars based on characters in the game. The characters are Riley, Ellie and a Chimera. Along with the avatars players will also receive a custom PlayStation
Vita lock screen them.
In terms of gameplay, pre-orders will allow the players to jump to level 5 in multiplayer and allow them to make use of the Hedgehog grenade and have early access to a weapon upgrade as well.
The game looks impressive from what we’ve seen so far and one can only hope that the final product delivers an enjoyable experience.
