Resistance band ...how effective?

  1. Yes they will help you tighten and tone. You're not going to see the same results as you would if you were lifting heavier free weights. If you're going for the long and lean look. Using them consistently will get you there. Don't skip on your cardio.

      I used a bench that had all resistance bands instead of weights. It feels like the reverse side of a normal workout whereas extending the band is easy, but it forces itself back quickly, hence the "resistance", in which you should retract your motion much slower then when you extended. I personally did not find it as an effective muscle builder, toning may be a better goal. If youve ever tried pilates, using a band is similar to that in some aspects, picking up your feet is easy..suspending them is hard. I ended up switching back to free weights and pushups. It all depends on what you are trying to do.
