Resorts in Jamaica?

Hey everyone!

Well, my family will be going to Jamaica next summer (2008) and we are looking for a resort. We are looking for a five star resort, preferably not in Montego Bay. The resort can be any one that allows 16 year olds, because there is a 16 year old girl in our family. (I've found that many consider 16 year olds adults) What resort would be good for 2 parents and their 16 year old daughter?

Having a 16 year old daughter makes things a bit more interesting for you.  That is such an "in between" age in that she is not a child and not yet an adult.  I suggest you go to TripAdvisor.com and search for Ocho Rios, Runaway Bay, and Negril areas.  Those, along with Mo Bay, are the major tourists areas.  That website will let you search for 5 star resorts and find out what they offer and what they can do for your daughter.  You can learn lots about every resort there and should be able to select the perfect one for your family.  Also, check out the attractions that the area offers.  An action / adventure company I like is Chukka Cove.  They offer activities such as ATV rides, horse back riding, bicyle trips, and a jungle canopy trip.  My wife and I did the latter last year and LOVED it.  Check them out on the web.  If you don't want to be near the beach there are resorts in the interior that might interest you.  You can see the Blue Mountain Coffee plantation, for example.  Do your research at TripAdvisor.com and you will have a great trip.

i would recommend negril it is laid back if you go on line check out the rui resorts there the beach is just amazing we did the glass bottom boat tour and the fish and coral was breathtaking oh yea you must go to ricks cafe and watch the cliff divers. i hope this helps and have fun

You don't say if you like all-inclusive or what part of the island you would like to stay at. Most of the 5 star resorts are couples only. Check out Jamaica Inn (Ocho Rios) it's a small 5 star Resort.  Look at the Ritz Carlton on Montego Bay. (5 Star) Also ask the hotel what age they consider a adult.

The best I can suggest is go to this site and read some of the reviews on all the resorts in Jamaica.

Breezes is great for the young lady. Does she like excursions the beach etc? You definitely want to be somewhere where she can be involved and not get bored. Ask her to do some research this way you will not be blamed!
