  1. hi Travis....

Well...the main reason it is so important in today's society is because there is not enough of it to go around.

Look around you.....Do you see that kid telling his mother where to go?....and   That kid over there giving the teacher the bird.

Just examples, but not too many years ago, if you disrespected your Mom, your dad would drag you out on the lawn and kick the snot out of you and the neighbors would come over to help him.

Without respect, there is no honor and without honor, there is nothing.

    Good luck.

  2. well i saw this quote on a poster somewhere that said "all people really want is to know they are appreciated"

without respect there can be no happiness

  3. Because it is the main key to hooking up with a network of people which eventually will land you your dream job(in most cases)

Besides, people like others who treated them with respect.

It also shows that you had a good upbringing from your family.

  4. it is important because it makes people feels peaceful, so the society have less fight. When a person said something rude to others, it could hurt people's feeling. So as a human being we don't want someone to unrespect to us. However, for the people who being rude, they never thought of others feeling when they talk in a no manner way. Therefore, if we want somebody to respect us, we have to respect them first. People can have more friends by being respect others too.

  5. It's almost impossible to trust someone if you feel they don't respect you.

  6. I think words have been undergoing a revolution in the past fifty or so years. Perhaps not the words themselves, but the way we use them, and definitely their context and the way we mean them.

    Examples:

    1) "You're ignorant" is used when people really mean rude. To be ignorant of something means not to know, but that's not the common use.

    2) "True" this or that, as in "true christian" - The word "true" is an absolute that hides the intended definition inside the cloak of something implied, often leading to miscommunication, and usually the basis of a straw-man argument.

That being said, the word (and actions) of respect have morphed greatly. It could mean polite, acceptable, manners or mannerisms, gestures, attitudes, etc. Given this, I'm not sure exactly what you mean when you say it, so I'll just go with my interpretation.

I find the words respect and tolerance are used often when dealing with lifestyle choices when actually the word that fits best is acceptance. You do not have got respect someone else's lifestyle choice, but you do need to accept that it is their choice to make. You do not have to live it. You may live how you choose within the realm of the law. To tolerate presumes something unpleasant. Therefore accept is more the terminology.

My thoughts on respect is that it is earned through word, thought and deed, consistent effort and knowledge of the person. I do not give my respect away. I do, however, accept that others choose how they wish to live.

    Make sense?

  7. because its the key.
