  1. First of all, don't give any personal information.  If you are buying something, prepare to pay cash.  When I put something to sell on Craiglist, I am very careful with personal information.  Example:  I was selling my truck.  Got an e-mail request that this person wanted to buy the truck unseen, and would send me a cashiers check, and the truck would be picked up by another party.  Well, I didn't sell to that person....it was probably a scam!  I sold to a neighbor! This can go the other way, if I was buying something, I would want to make sure it was not a scam.  Just be careful, it's not like you are buying from your local store.  There are honest people but it's the few dishonest you have to watch out for.
