My friends and i are going to arrive at Rome at night and we dont want to stay at the hotel, we want to go to a restaurant. But we want a very famous and good restaurant AND we want it to be close to Via Del Tritone or Via Barberini or even better Via Nazionale. Thanks

P.S Is it safe to walk in Rome at around 9:00 pm in these streets or in general? Thanks :)

  1. Hi. I am from rome and i can tell you it's absolutely safe to walk around that area and the ones near it. In general central rome is safer than many other european cities, just watch your purse cause we have immigrants lately that don't think twice before trying to get your wallet (especially near termini station). Apart from that if you walk from barberini to via veneto you can find many many little restaurants opened until very late at night with good food to offer. Enjoy!

  2. there is a good rest. go in via crispi (just via del tritone) there is a good rest.  should call da luigi (before the T-Bone Station rest.)

    answer to DAR76:

cannoli are from sicily is not a roma cake.

and don't aspect olive or garlic bread...

  3. Spent about five days in room a few months ago and the best meal we had was at the "Osteria dell'Angelo" - 06 372 94 70, Via Bettolo 24 - it's just a few minutes walk from the Vatican.  You do need to book ahead but it's reasonably priced for the great meal we had.  It's well known with the locals and fills up very quickly.

I'm not sure how close it is to the streets you've mentioned though but it would be worth making your way there.  Central Rome isn't that big and the underground train is very convenient.

It should be safe to walk around - particularly in a group - Rome struck me as quite a safe city and we were frequently out past dark.

  4. I was not impressed with Roman food and the bread was not worth mentioning.   Most of the restaurants we ate at were pretty disappointing not to mention they don't have canoli's there either.  Go to your bookstore/library and get a Zagets guide on eating in Rome.  I wish I did.  Also, there are good parts and bad parts of Rome so be careful at night like you would anywhere else.
