Question:

Restaurant gift cards?

I want to give a gift card to a couple for somewhere like the Olive Garden as they have children. The problem is, I rarely (and by rarely I mean 10 years!) go out to dinner so I don't know the prices.

What would be a good amount to cover a main course dinner for 4 people at a place like the Olive Garden (just estimates of course)? Thanks a bunch.

  1. We went to olive garden last week, the 4 of us and it cost 50.00 with tip. The food was good and so was the service. It is very family friendly

  2. It was about $80 to $90 for our 4 to go out.

  3. For a couple, a gift card for Olive Garden should be about 35 bucks. thats plenty for two people.

  4. Drink (2.50)

    Alcohol (4-8)

    Appetizer (5-10)

    Meal (10-18)

    Dessert (5-6)

My average four ranges between 60 (all waters and conservative meals) to 100 (4 drinks maybe some alcohol, an app and 4 good meals and a dessert or 2)

  5. 4 adults? $80

  6. Applebee's and Olive Garden are really expensive for a family of four I would have to say about 75.00 maybe even more depending on drinks, appitizers, and dessert.

  7. Olive Garden for 4 people.. probably about $70

  8. If it is adults and children, I suggest a minimum of $20 for each adult and $10 for children.

Also, if you aren't sure what restaurant to choose, you could always give them a visa or mastercard sponsered gift card from the sources below. If you really just want to give them an Olive Garden gift card, and there is 2 adults/2 children

...$50- $60 they will be grateful for! You can give or take depending on if you want to serve them dessert... lol!

    Good luck!

  9. $50+

  10. You should give them a gift card to Claim Jumper- the food is better and there is A LOT more to choose from- not just variations on pasta and chicken!  A $50 card would cover it!

  11. Dinner dishes at OG usually run from 12.95 to 17.95 depending on the meal, if you just want to cover their main meals you're lookin at 50-70ish however gift cards come in intervals of 25, 50, and 100. If you are close to an Olive Garden thats great but super markets as well as CVS stores now carry giftcards for your convience so you could pick it up there, they also have less expensive, but just as yummy places like applebees which might be a good option :)

  12. If the children are 10 and under, I would suggest $50-$60. If the children are over 10, I would suggest $75-$80. Also, if you go to walmart, you can get preset gift cards for use at either olive garden or red lobster...more versatility. Hope this helps!

  13. Hi,

I live in Portugal and we don't have these options, but Mastercard and Visa (maybe Amex also) have gift prepaid credit cards (some of them general and some for special occasions, namely dinning).

Maybe you could check their websites.

Or you could call the restaurant and make a reserve on their name using your card.

But I guess that offering a gift card is better. Ah, send the card with your name, don't send it as an anonym.

I'm saying this because they may not accept since there's the scam of offering tickets (dinning in your case) to people so that they leave their houses and then when they get home...well...you can imagine... :-)

    Take care,

  14. Olive Garden...maybe 60-75. I'm purposely over-estimating since it's a gift, but that should cover four, plus drinks.
