Question:

Restaurant overcharged?

by  |  earlier

I went to a restaurant with a girlfriend last night. We ordered the same dish (2 total), but only one came out. We split the first dish thinking the second would come out, but it never did. We decided we were full and didn't need the second dish. I signed the credit card receipt because we were in a hurry to leave - and only the next day realized that they charged me for the second dish that we never got. What should/can I do?

  1. Call or go back and ask to speak to the manager. Explain what happened (calmly and respectfully), and ask for your money for the second dish back. If they are not willing to do that, ask it they would give you a gift certificate for the amount at least (then you have to spend it there, so they aren't out as much). If they refuse to help you, tell them that you will be taking your business elsewhere in future.

  2. You should definitely call the restaurant.  Don't be a jerk when you call, they get enough of that.  You'll have to hope for the best in this situation because they already have your signature, so if you were to pursue it with your credit card company, you could not dispute the charge.  Basically, what I'm saying is that it was their fault UNTIL you signed your name; at that point you assumed the fault for your own.  Let's hope the manager is a reasonable person who wants you to come back to their restaurant!

  3. Did your server know you didn't receive the second entree?  They might have just forgotten to get the entree deleted off the check.  I would call the proprietor.  Your receipt/credit card slip should have the servers name on it, so the proprietor can ask them if they remember.  They will most likely give you a giftcard or tuckaway for the next time you dine with them.

  4. Any decent establishment wants to make you happy.Explain what happened truthfully and I'm sure they would be more than willing to resolve the situation.

Restaurants are a service industry and most of the people who work in this industry take it very seriously.Be honest about complaints and compliments and you will see the real difference between a good restaurant and a great one.

  5. sue them because they charge u for something u didn't get !!!!!!

  6. At Mickey D's you pay when served, but I miss a lot of fries at the drive thru. I've just been out of luck.

  7. Call them, ask to speak with the manager,

have your reciept, and credit card copy in hand,

    explain what went on,

most likely he will help you,

if he is not helping you, call your CC company or bank, despiute the charge,

it takes a month or so  but you get your money back.

  8. Next time there around, go naughty-  order less and eat more - you know what I mean!

  9. Go back with the receipt ask for a manager and tell them what happened. they will either refund your money or ask if you want a free dinner
