  1. along Royal Mile: Ensign Ewart, Lawnmarket (gets crowded); White Hart Inn, Grassmarket

The Hebrides, Market St., Bannermans, Niddry St.Acandthus, Waverly Bridge; Alba, Grassmarket; Waverly, St Marys St.,Bow Bar, West Bow, Victoria St.Castle Bar, Johnston Terrace, Valentines (now Royal McGregor),

High St. Arcade Bar, Cockburn St.,

    Slainte!

  2. The Mussel Inn at Rose Street, behind Princes Street. Small but quaint, good seafood all the time

  3. McDonald's

  4. Station Hotel, Thurso.

  5. I love eating out in Edinburgh, a taste of my favourites:

The Apartment, 7-13 Barclay Place- Incredible bistro food in a modern but comfortble interior. Unusual twist to the menu in that there are no starters but almost all dishes can be made to share (which is fun and kind of romantic!). The beetroot coleslaw is a signature must have! I go roughly once a month because it is always wonderful- I chose it for my Graduation meal so it's good for special occasions. Has a sister restaurant called "The Outsider" if it is more convenient, but my loyalty lies with the Apartment!

Fishers Bistro,1 The Shore- In the new trendy area of the Shore surrounded by other fabulous bistros and eateries is one of the best fish restaurants in Edinburgh. If you're not a fan of fish that's ok because the steaks are incredible! Cosy and rustic and elegant all at once. The mussels are to die for.... as is pretty much the entire menu! Also has a sister restaurant in Thistle Street if you would like to be closer to the centre of town.

A Room in the Town- Howe Street- If you want to come to Scotland and actually eat Scottish food then this is absolutely my top recommendation! Modern, Bistro style Scottish fayre, with unusual combinations that made your tastebuds wonder why you've never treated them that well before! I would always recommmend ordering the dish that comes with black pudding, whatever the rest of the dish is, because it's always incredible! The staff are always sooooo friendly and the whole atmosphere makes you comfortable and happy and want to relax there all evening. Also a great location for the centre of town. Has a sister restaurant called "A Room in the West End" where the food is just as incredible but it is slightly larger so I feel you miss out on a bit of the cosiness.

If none of the above appeal, or if you want to find more reviews/websites for the these, have a look at www.list.co.uk

Wherever you choose to go I hope you have a wonderful anniversay and enjoy you trip around Scotland!
