Can anyone suggest a good restaurant in Islington for dinner with my sister? We're not veggie and are happy to eat all sorts of world cuisine. Somewhere nice but not too expensive.

Any ideas???

  1. If you are on a budget I would suggest Le Mercury. It is a lovely French restaurant about half way up Upper Street-  so between Angel and HIghbury & Islington and does main courses starting round £5 so you splash out and have three courses if you like :) The staff are very friendly, the atmosphere good and it is normally busy every night of the week so best to call ahead. There is so much choice on Upper street so if they are full you will still find plenty of alternatives. Enjoy!

  2. Anywhere on Upper Street will be good, it depends on your tastes really. There are a few more on Holloway Road but close to Highbury and Islington tube.

  3. yes go to a place called Tiger Lils on Upper street about half way up,  the food is oriental.... its reasonably priced for £11.50 each you can eat all you like.... the really great thing about it is that it is interactive eating...... so...you go in ...fill your bowl with raw ingredients...(and they have everything veggie, all meats and a wide range of seafood) take it to the counter, pick a sauce( i always go teryaki) and a spice and they cook it right there infront of you in a huge flaming wok...... you can go back to the counter as many times as you like...so you could have like muscles, squid  or whatever as a first course...then go back for the meat etc... the staff are really friendly...fantastic dining experience and the place its self is very tastefully decorated

  4. I think you would adore Frederick's, the food is excellent and its interior is beautiful.

You can read a review of it by Victor Lewis-Smith at: www.guardian.co.uk/weekend/story/0,3605,...

but to make your own mind up, why not take a look at its website at

I have been there on a date but also with female friends and had a great time on each occasion.
