Restaurants I should go to while in Boston?

We plan on going to Legal Seafood. But would appreciate other suggestions. Not looking for $$$, but more middle of the road to moderate. Also, where would be good for brunch?

Thanks!

  1. I'm going to do you a huge favor and say if you're going to only one seafood place, then don't go to Legal Seafood. It's good. I love going there, but you can go to a Legal Seafood in DC or another city. Go to a place called Union Oyster House. It's near Faneuil Hall, and is the oldest restaurant in the US. They give you a piece of cornbread with your chowda, and have great oysters and other great food.

  2. If you like Indian food, go to tamrind bay...

  3. Pizzeria Regina - I seriously dream about this place it was so beyond good.  No 9 Park was maybe a little on the expensive side (we did a tasting menu which was pretty pricey) but the food there was beyond amazing.  And I love the Beantown Pub, if you just want quick dinner or lunch - we stayed right down the street from there so we ended up there several times.  Good value, good ambiance, good in general!

  4. definitely dont go to the Hub Pub their food sucks. you have to go to d**k's Last Resort though, oh yeah and Maggianos-best food ever!

  5. Brunch.. you should go to S&S deli in Cambridge.. great breakfast food...

  6. Go to durgin park. It is a fun place to eat and the food is good and you never know who might show up. A lot of famous people eat there. I sat with the Mayor of Boston one day, and I also sat across from the governor once.

  7. As someone who goes a lot of places for work, I can only give you one bit of advice - follow some of the other poster's suggestions.  I LOVE Legal Seafood (esp. their clam chowder!), but if you have a chance to go to a single restaurant instead of a chain, do so.

The only caveat - if you still do want to go to Legal - go to Legal Test Kitchen.  There are only 2; one is at the Seaport (225 Northern Ave. Boston, MA 02210 Phone: 617-330-7430 )

They try out different dishes here before putting them on the menu at the 'regular' Legal SeaFoods.

    Happy eating, wherever you go!

  8. I agree with the first guy, go to a local seafood restaurant while in Boston, not a chain.

Also, check out the North End. There are tons of cute Italian restaurants to choose from, then after dinner walk down the street for dessert. There are pastry shops where you can get Italian pastry and coffee or gelato. Make a reservation in advance at a restaurant. Look online and choose one that tickles your fancy. Pizzeria Regina is also in the North End. Parking can be tough, there are garages in Fanueil Hall and you can walk over to the North End from there, or take a cab or the T so you don't have to worry about parking. Grab a drink next to the Union Oyster House at The Bell in Hand or behind that is the Green Dragon....these are some of the oldest bars in Boston.  Don't forget to grab a sausage from the sausage guy late night. Also, Durgin Park has been around for over 100 yrs. It's casual and serves delicious comfort foods. This is also right in Fanueil Hall.

LoConte's on Salem street or Taranta, its on that first block on Hanover Street. THese are in the North End.

  9. I defintley recomend going to the north end. it has bunch of great resterants, desert places , and sovioner places too. you can walk around and everyone has a menu out side so when yuo something you like you can go there. there is a bunch of resterants with huge open windows that you can see everyone walking around out side. I like this resterant that you can eat on the roof which is cool and i live emilous right across from the fire station i get treated like royaly there, it has the best pizza i have ever hade, great atmospere, and good workers. i like to get gelato ( italian ice cream) at 2 places gelatoria and cafe victoria.  it is very fun place to go hope you go and have a fun t ime in boston!
