Question:

Restaurants ripping me off for virgin beverage??

I love strawberry daquiris but they are very expensive.

It seems like I should get it cheaper if I want a virgin one, considering the alcohol is what costs money.

Does it make sense?

Should they have a virgin price and a price with alcohol included?

  1. it MIGHT cost less than an alcoholic once, depending on where you get it.  i was a bartender and most of the time it's just as much as work to make a virgin drink than an alcoholic one.  that's probably why they charge more.  though i tend to agree with you - alcohol is expensive in restaurants, and drinks without it should naturally cost less.

  2. yes some do have 2 different prices it depends where you go

  3. Many restaurants do have a lower price, but the fact is that mixer and time accounts for a lot of the price.  Plus they may have pre-made drinks and have to make a special one for you which involves more work.

So if you pay $6.00 for a daiquiri, don't be suprised if a virgin is $5.00.  Ask for the daiquiri with the alcohol on the side in a jigger, some places serve them that way so  you will know you actually get the alchohol.  Then give it to a friend if there is someone with you who drinks.
