Resticted passport?

I am a UK citizen travelling around Australia.I have a one year restricted passport as i have lost so many that is the only one i could get.I have been in OZ for 4 moths and my passport runs out in Jan 09,i want to stay out in OZ for longer than that and need to extend my passport,has anyone else had to do this and was is it easy????

losing passports is quite serious, especially these days. Restricting you is a way of trying to teach you the value and importance of taking your passport more seriously.

I live overseas and travel often, and my passport is the most valuable thing I have. Without it, I'd be in a fix.  I was once in a hotel that had a fire and we all had to evacuate to safety. My passport was the first and only thing I thought about to take with me.
