I got a mountain bike about 5-6 years ago. its always rode smooth and nice. lately no so much. around 2 years ago, i moved it from the garage to outside (no room) so its started rusting. I want a fresh coat of paint, New chain, new thing that you put your hands on, and i will put new tires on. do i have to use speacial paint? how much is a new chain? what are those things called at the end of the handlebars where you put ur hands on? most important how much does it cost??

  1. i dont think you have to use special paint. you can use regular metal paint. a chain would cost about $5-$10 and those things on the end of your handle bars are called "Grips" would be about $10 also. and new tires would be about $15-$50 each

  2. it depends where you live lol but erm try going to a shop that sells bicycles and get tehm to fix it the tires prob bout 20 pounds the handlebar ifngs bout tenner and the paint fing im not sure about tht anyway

  3. well,

    i have a 1985 monterey murray cruiser and it hasnt been used for the last 20 years.

    what i did is i bought the tires

    the tire tubes

    new chain

    i oiled the seat so it wouldnt be stuck

    and i still have to paint it.

    so the total was

    paint=$6

    tires= $20

    tire tubes=$14

    chain= $5

    -------------------------

    so it will probably be about $50 for you

    the hadlebar grips will cost you about maybe $14
