Restoring ipod... help?

My cousin wants me to buy songs for her new ipod. She already has songs on it that she had bought, but she wants to use up her iTunes gift card. When I plugged the ipod into my computer it opened itunes and had an option that said "click to restore your ipod to its factory settings." If I don't click that it won't let me do anything to her ipod. So, if I click on the option will it erase all the songs she already has on her ipod, or will it keep them on there? The ipod is one of those newer ipod nanos.

that will erase all her songs on her ipod. try saving all her ngs on a file other than itunes and save it to your computer then restore the ipod . then all you have to then is add that saved file to it the you finish what you were trying to do
