I was involved with someone for 4 years but out of 2 years he was abusing me emotionally and has effected my relationship with my husband and family and had been through alot for the past 2 years. I dont want anything to do with this guy because he does loose his temper very easily and am afraid he might do something really stupid near on in the future. why you ask because i know he would do such a thing like this, and tried to have sexual condut with me. My ex is not emotinally stabled. I dont want to have to go through that tumoril again. I've already moved on with my life I just want to get a protection order to have him stay away from me and my family if he do decides to do anything then he goes straight to jail. Problem is nor i have a phone number of him he has relocated to Canada but dont have any other info. Can I file a restraning order without these information? If he treis to make contact in some form i dont want to have to deal with it i want it to go straight to court or jail. And would i have to find a lawyer? I

  1. yes, find a lawyer.

you have the right to get a restraining order says the law.

    "the right to feel safe"

if it does go to court you are going to have to be there but if you do take the time to deal with it know you are not going to have to deal with it again.
