I have driving licence for 50cc. And I am allowed to drive scooters with 50cc and 50km/h maximum with L label on it and I am allowed to take a passenger with me, right? Now the question: Am I allowed to de-restrict my 50cc scooter and to increase my max speed untill aprox 80km/h? Is it legal or not? If not, then is it possible to catch me for police?

  1. no passengers till you pass your test...most 50cc bikes are restricted...deresetricting them wont give you much more power.

technically its against the law to derestrict them but no one cares, not even the police...but if you go flying past a police car at 95mph on a scooter then that's another mater...

there restricted for a reason, and that reason is so you dont kill your self,or anyone else..

  2. you cant de-ristrict or carry passengers until you pass your full license. you can carry passengers after you,ve passed either your motorcycle test or car test as long as your insurance covers passengers. about de-ristricting your scooter, i had mine on the road from new and within 2months and NO MODS what so ever mine was doing 45-50mph. mine had 3 restricts on the scooter, 1-exhaust, 2-variator roller, 3-ECU. in case your wondering my scooter was an aprilia SR50 DiTech.to be completely honest though i was followed a couple of times by the police doing 45mph and having L-plates but they never pulled me over, i think its were you do the speed and also how your riding that determines if they'll pull you over or not. hope this makes sense and helps you.

  3. you can de restrict the scooter, but your license doesnt allow you to operate it then, and if caught you will get fined for both driving out of class, and your bike will be fined if still labeled L.

  4. You cannot legally ride a de-restricted bike as a learner and your insurance would be invalid.

Hopefully if you do then when you cause a crash you will only maime/kill yourself.

  5. First you cannot take a passenger unless the passenger has a licence to drive a car or motorcycle. By deristricting your scooter you will be breaking the law and therefore should not be done. If you go ahead and do it anyway then in the event that you have an accident, the insurance assessor will invalidate your claim. If you should seriously injure or even kill somebody then you will effectively be uninsured and you could then be in serious trouble. Prison would be the most likely outcome. Stay within the law and learn to ride properly. Then as you grow up you can graduate, after passing the tests, to a faster machine and stay a responsible person. By the way, I hope you are actually insured.

  6. Spomething that everyone's missed out - you CAN'T carry a passenger on your moped under any circumstances.

And you can't derestrict it legally - it then stops being a scooter.
