  1. Crustacean, Cut, The Penthouse

    Try opentable for other suggestions

  2. Mastro's Steakhouse-

  3. bubba gump on Santa Monica Pier

  4. Well

    I dont know about formal

    but they have delicous food

    kinda romantic

becuase its on the edge of Santa Monica pier

    Just walk to the end

and a Ruby's restraunt is there

    Delicous food

  5. Consider these locations for all of the qualities that you've described (romantic scenery; dressy or formal attire; very good food and for the occasion):

    YAMASHIRO JAPANESE RESTAURANT http://www.yamashirorestaurant.com

This location has a wonderful view of Hollywood/Los Angeles

been there for years and great ambiance.

    THE MAGIC CASTLE   (www.magiccastle.com)

It's private, so if you're able to find anyone who's a member, try to get reservations with the assistance of that member (possibly call this location and see if anyone would be kind enough to assist and arrange reservations for you) It's a great old castle where there are magic shows and dinner, dress is nice to formal.  It's fun in a romantic way.  Been there for years, and near Yamashiro Restaurant in Hollywood.

(Personal Note:  The ambiance is unique and great, food, personally I think it's okay, but check out the website for details and same re: their menu).

(Ocean view or on the pier, in Santa Monica)

    THE LOBSTER (310) 458-9294

    1602 Ocean Ave

    Santa Monica, CA

It is at the beginning of & on the Santa Monica Pier. Strongly recommend reservations. Prices vary between 30.00 - 40.00 Food was very good, very nice/upscale restaurant and you couldn't ask for a better view (on the pier!). It has a Zagat Rating!

OCEAN AVE SEAFOOD on Ocean Ave.

(On the corner of Santa Monica Blvd. and Ocean Ave.).

There is a view of the ocean. Prices vary (not as expensive as The Lobster), very nice/upscale restaurant too. It also has a Zagat Rating too!

CHAYA Brasserie (located near Cedar Sanai Hospital)

8741 Alden Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90048

    tel: 310.859.8833

Been there for years; very trendy; food is consistantly excellent Japanese French fusion cuisine (service too).  (It's romantic, however scenery wise, and for the occasion that you had described.....maybe consider this one at another time)

If you're considering the Pasadena area (near the end of the 110 freeway) try  (reservations strongly recommended):

    THE RAYMOND RESTAURANT

    www.theraymond.com

    1250 So. Fair Oaks Ave.

    Pasadena 91105

    626/441-3136

It's a real "gem" of a restaurant that's been there for years.

Quality of food and service is always exceptional.  Very upscale & quaint restaurant.  (I've never been disappointed whenever I've been there)

Another "gem" of a restaurant that's near THE RAYMOND is:

SHIRO RESTAURANT  (Has Zagat rating too!)

    (626) 799-4774

    1505 Mission St

    South Pasadena, CA

It's Asian fusion Pacific Rim.  Also been there for years and the food has been consistently very very good too!

It's just a few, however I hope this info helps!
